Jitu Rai was born on 26 august, 1987. Jitu is a Nepali Bhasi Indian shooter of Indian Gorkha ethnic group to compete in the 10 meter air pistol and 50 meter pistol events. Government of India has awarded him with Khel Ratna award. At present Jitu is a part of the 11 Gorkha Rifles as a Naik-Subedar. He is currently ranked second in the world in 50m pistol and third in 10m air pistol events. Jitu was the first shooter in Rio Olympics to qualify after a silver medal at the 51st Shooting World Championship in Spain.
